There's no such thing as Healthcare "Reform"

The Merriam Webster online dictionary defines reform: to put an end to (an evil) by enforcing or introducing a better method or course of action. All the compromises and catering to the right wing nutjobs has turned true healthcare reform into nothing more than a healthcare "bill." To put a true end to the evil (i.e., health insurance industry), you need to have a public option. And forget about the type of treatment for a second. Introduction of a public option, from a pure capitalism point of view, will inject low-cost alternatives and hopefully, ultimately, drive down insurance costs. Think of it as the Southwest airlines of healthcare. No first-class, open seating, and cheaper! And my favorite issue with anyone having an issue with the public option is that WE ALREADY HAVE ONE!!! It's called Medicare.

But because some in our government (no names, but they tend to vote as a block and oppose everything our President tries to do) have commissioned good old fashioned craziness at town hall meetings, true reform is now a hack--it's not even a band-aid. And the Republicans are loving this. They know that something completely watered-down will get passed, it won't make a dent in costs (they'll keep going up), and then they can blame it all on the President. Then, of course, their knight comes riding into Washington, completely succumbs to the insurance lobby, and then only the rich (not even lower middle class) will be able to afford healthcare. Now that's their version of capitalism!!!
